Summary of Position
As a Medical Technician, you will support medication adherence under the supervision of the Program Manager or Program Director. You will serve as a liaison between clients and medical staff while ensuring compliance with medication policies, ethical standards, and documentation protocols.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures client's medications are being taken in a timely fashion as ordered by the doctor.
Supervise clients' self‑administration of medications, ensuring compliance with physician orders.
Audit and monitor client charts and the Medication Administration Record (MAR) in the KIPU system.
Conduct regular medication counts to verify accuracy and staff adherence to protocols.
Communicate medication changes with physicians and pharmacies as needed.
Handling pharmacy payments with current and past clients.
Record all prescribed medications entering the facility and dispense over‑the‑counter medications, logging per protocol.
Coordinate timely ordering, pickup, and drop‑off of medications from approved pharmacies.
Safely store and dispose of discontinued or discharged clients' medications according to facility policies, completing required reports.
Record all prescribed medication that enters the house/office.
Process pharmacy payments for current and former clients, ensuring accurate billing and reconciliation.
Dispense over‑the‑counter medications as needed, and record in required log.
Document patient care services in the electronic medical record.
Perform light housekeeping tasks (e.g., cleaning, sanitizing, laundry) in detox houses to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Take and record vital signs as required.
Observe and monitor client behavior, intervening based on individual treatment plans, schedules, and facility needs.
Provide 1:1 supervision for at‑risk clients (e.g., those with suicidal ideation or Against Treatment Advice (ATA) risks) as directed by the supervisor.
Support ATA prevention through 1:1 counseling, notifying the assigned counselor, and immediately reporting to a supervisor when clients express intent to leave.
Coordinate milieu treatment with counseling staff through client records, staff communication, and meetings.
Maintain the staff shift log, including check‑in/check‑out times and a summary of shift events.
Supervises self‑administration of client medications.
Follows emergency procedures exactly (including paging protocol, etc.)
Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Program Director or designated supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
1 year of experience working with mental health or dual diagnosis (preferred).
Must be able to obtain a CPR/First Aid certification
Must be able to pass TB or X‑Ray clearance.
Valid EMT, MA, or CNA certification.
Clean background check/ability to pass livescan.
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour
