Minimum Training And Education
Patient Care Technician I:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Patient Care Technician II:
High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met.
Associate or Bachelor's degree
At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS
1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an AHA recognized equivalent, or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Ability to perform job functions in various positions and environments, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, indoors/outdoors, lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted (with specific weight-handling scenarios described), repetitive motions, reaching, fine motor tasks, and working rotating shifts. Visual and hearing capabilities must be sufficient for job duties. Ability to work in a latex-safe environment and, for selected positions, maintain respirator qualification may be required.
