Position Summary
The COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) and in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements

Certified as a National Board Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (NBCOT) upon hire; renewal optional thereafter.

Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program (ASOT).

Registered/licensed in the applicable state and maintain an active license in good standing for the duration of employment.

One (1) year of experience in post‑acute care or a related setting preferred.

CPR certification upon hire or to be obtained during orientation; certification must remain current during employment.

Specific Job Requirements

Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e‑mail.

Liaises with patients, families, and support departments to adequately plan for patient needs.

Demonstrates good body mechanics at all times.

Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in post‑acute care.

Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.

Performs proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.

Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.

Maintains confidentiality of proprietary and/or confidential information.

Understands and follows company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.

Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory Code of Conduct and other compliance training.

Essential Functions

Follows occupational treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising OT.

Charts appropriately and timely.

Utilizes therapy software appropriately and accurately.

Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients.

Assists in the evacuation of patients.

Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance.

Uses concentration, reasoning skills, and good judgment.

Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team.

Performs physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours.

Reads, writes, speaks, and understands the English language.
