Summary
14K sign on bonus for qualified candidates. This position performs a variety of integrated functions, intuitively, using the nursing process while applying a broad nursing knowledge in a caring, concerned manner.
Responsibilities
Assesses patient for physical, emotional, psych/social and family support. (25%)
Organizes and coordinates all aspects of patient care according to the patient’s real and/or perceived needs. (25%)
Evaluates patient progress by correlating patient information with nursing knowledge to determine if goals are being met according to the patient’s plan of care or clinical path. (25%)
Consults and collaborates with members of the health care team in planning and implementing total patient care for individuals. (25%)
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates proficiency in nursing skills to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
Communicates interactions, both verbal and written, that clearly and positively accomplish desired patient care as a collaborative effort.
Educates patients and families.
Provides teaching, support and coordination of health care plans for patient and family through the acute phase of illness, as needed.
Promotes clinical knowledge development including critical thinking skills and improves strategies for comparing clinical judgment through research and continuing education.
Has access to the medication and supply rooms for stocking when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licensure
RN: Registered Nurse (Essential)
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Essential, within 12 months of hire or transfer)
BLS: Basic Life Support (Essential, within 3 months of hire or transfer)
DIMC: Dysrhythmia Interpretation Man (Essential, within 12 months of hire or transfer)
TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (Essential, within 6 months of hire or transfer; employees on or before 8/1/2024 have 24 months to complete)
Education
Associate’s degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Training and Skills
Completion of orientation process as directed by the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nurse manager and critical care educator.
Interpersonal skills to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels.
Competency in Microsoft Windows; may participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
PCCN certification preferred.
Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
Exposure to stressful situations, including trauma, grief and death.
Ability to wear PPE with latex or substitutes.
Mobility throughout facility with or without assisted device; perform job functions as outlined.
Vision and hearing necessary; may use assistive devices.
Required to sit/stand/walk for long periods; may need stooping, kneeling, crouching.
Exposure to blood borne pathogens; follow testing requirements.
Handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance and stay awake.
Dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, etc.; may repeat movements.
Physical Demand Level: Medium; lift/carry 21‑50 lbs. some of the day, 20 lbs. more frequently, and 10 lbs. most of the day.
