Scope
Under supervision of the Political Director, the Colorado Chapter Organizing Intern will support staff and volunteers to build public support for chapter goals, increase volunteer turnout for grassroots and political events, and help support volunteer committees.
Responsibilities
Participate in planning and carrying out plans, strategies, projects, events or campaigns to further Chapter strategic goals.
Assist in developing educational and communication materials such as blog posts, fact sheets, newsletters, social media posts, etc.
Assist in representing Sierra Club’s views to legislators, elected officials, news media, and the public by giving testimony, participating in meetings, and engaging in public speaking events.
Assist in contacting Sierra Club members, supporters, and community partners via phonebanking, email, canvassing and tabling on key legislative and political issues.
Perform general office duties and other duties as assigned.
Support the building of a strong grassroots team.
Qualifications
Strong oral communication skills and sincere listener.
Ability to work with diverse staff, volunteers, and the public.
Proficient computer skills, familiar with word processing and spreadsheets.
Occasional availability to work evenings and weekends.

Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $18 per hour. This is a category 99, non‑exempt, non‑represented, temporary position. Sierra Club is a 501(c)(4) non‑profit organization; employees are not eligible for the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Sierra Club values the expertise and talents of foreign nationals and sponsors non‑immigrant and immigrant visas when criteria are met, at the discretion of the Department Head and People Department.
