Job Summary
The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient\'s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach.
Responsibilities
Performs comprehensive nursing assessment/reassessment and documents findings
Performs age-appropriate admission and transfer assessments; obtain input from family/guardian when appropriate
Plan, implement, and evaluate a patient care plan; coordinate with health team and ensure accurate handoffs
Administer and document medications according to policies and procedures; monitor IV fluids and parenteral nutrition
Provide patient/family education and discharge planning per documentation guidelines
Collaborate with health team members for daily plan of care; request consultations as indicated
Document readbacks for telephone/verbal orders; follow physician orders timely and accurately
Recognize changes in patient condition and take appropriate nursing actions
Incorporate infection control practices into daily care
Document and communicate nursing care and changes in patient condition
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Licensed to work as an RN in the state of Missouri
WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to blood borne diseases; variable hours; emergency/crisis situations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional standing/walking; lifts, positions, pushes, or transfers patients; occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling
