Overview
The Medical/Surgical – General Surgery (Bariatric/Ortho/Neuro/Surgical) Unit at Mount Carmel Grove City is 42 beds. The RN, Registered Nurse, provides care for patients related to general, orthopedic, neuro, and bariatric weight loss surgery. This unit is the only unit within the Mount Carmel Health System that performs bariatric weight loss surgery. This is a full-time role with three 12-hour shifts and every third weekend, with a 12-week orientation period and strong teamwork within the department.
Responsibilities
Provides nursing care, ensures patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and maintains professionalism within the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program model.
Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, collaborates with patients and families to develop and implement a plan of care addressing physical, spiritual, and educational needs.
Communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner and keeps patient/family updated.
Documents assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately and in accordance with organizational standards and guidelines.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and for care documented by other licensed or unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate from school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
Experience: For Casual RNs, 2 years of experience is required.
New graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are eligible to participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
