About the Department
Critical Care / Surgical Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SNICU)

is a 28-bed unit providing post-operative care to BMC’s most complex patients, including trauma, neurology, cardiac surgical, vascular surgery, and general surgery.

Position Summary
As a Patient Care Technician in our Critical Care department, you will be a key member of the healthcare team. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, you will provide direct clinical and support services. Using a patient-centered care model with a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to patients and their families, and work cooperatively with the healthcare team to meet patient, family, and staff needs.

Job Responsibilities

Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Critical Care department and their families.

Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and providing emotional support.

Perform environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the Critical Care dept.

Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care dept, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.

Job Requirements

A high school diploma or GED certificate

Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (current or obtained within 30 days of employment)

Ability to pass clinical competency testing

Physical ability to meet job responsibilities

Basic math and computer proficiency

One of the following qualifications:

One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting

Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation

Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training

Completed an approved certified medical assistant training

One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)

Fluency in another language is a plus

Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

Compensation
Compensation Range:

$23.19 - $27.17 per hour

This range is an estimate based on minimum qualifications. Our base pay is determined using a comprehensive approach that considers education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
