Job Summary:
The Transportation Aide ( CNA ) is responsible for providing safe transport of patients, personal effects, requisitions, specimens, charts, and miscellaneous items and assisting with patient transport activities as required.
Major Duties and Critical Tasks:
Responsible for transporting patients and/or specimens upon request.
Transports patients using wheelchairs and with stretcher transports.
Transports specimens to the laboratory and delivers blood and blood products in a timely manner.
Picks up slides for physicians to review from laboratory as requested.
Obtains supplies from central supply as requested.
Participates and uses automated systems in a timely and accurate manner to assist with patient transportation.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care to meet those needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing or visual impairment). This includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level of development, education, and literacy.
Assists with environmental duties in departments or units, including pick‑up and disposal of recycling/trash receptacles and linen removal from laundry bins to proper disposal areas.
Adheres to the standards identified in the facility’s Organizational Competencies.
Required Education and Experience:
Driver must be at least 21 years old.
Must have an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License, which must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Acceptable history of safe driving as shown by a 3‑year driving record check.
Stretcher experience is required for this position.
