
Medical Assistant $2000 SIGN ON BONUS

Job Summary
Assists provider in patient care activities conducted in the clinic and performs selected procedures under the direct supervision and request of the provider. Reporting to the Clinical Operations Supervisor, the Medical Assistant performs functions to assist in providing medical care and treatment to patients in the clinic setting.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Escorts patients to exam room, verifies patient information by interviewing them, reviewing and/or recording medical history.
Takes vital signs, including weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature; documents all information in EMR. Signature and title of the MA must be documented in EMR.
Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room, providing examination gowns and drapes, helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment, arranging exam room instruments, supplies and equipment.
Supports patient care delivery by collecting, preparing and transporting laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests in the clinic and recording the data in EMR; disposing of contaminated supplies and instruments; administering medication; authorizing medication refills electronically or calling prescriptions to the pharmacy; Pap smear set‑up; placing lab and/or diagnostic orders in EMR; removing sutures and changing dressings.
Performs some front‑desk duties such as checking in patients and scheduling appointments.
Prepares referral orders in EMR, IRIS and County Care Portal.
Obtains immunization records from I‑Care.
Gives instructions to patients upon provider’s directive.
Ensures all medical reports, labs and information are filed and available in the patient’s medical records prior to their appointment.
Keeps exam rooms clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies; maintains instruments and diagnostic equipment; sterilizes medical instruments.
Takes telephone messages and provides feedback to patients/providers/pharmacy calls.
Triages and processes messages from patients and front‑office staff to providers.
E‑scribes medication to the pharmacy.
Prepares schedule for daily huddle with Care Team and signs off on huddle completion in EMR.
Maintains all logs and required checks (STI log, refrigerator temperatures, expired medication, oxygen, etc.).
Completes and faxes STI report to the Board of Health.
Generates sample medication label for patients when samples are given out from the clinic.
Fax documents, scans and verifies patient documents in EMR.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt of orders.
Schedules and documents relevant information in the patient’s medical record, point‑of‑care test results and procedures performed.
Performs CLIA Waived testing (pregnancy test, urine dips, Strep screening, Influenza, PT/INR’s, glucose testing, Hemoglobin, Hemoglobin A1C, etc.).
Documents and maintains immunization records in EMR.
Prepares a revenue cycle clinic close report at the end of each shift.
Instructs patients on after‑care procedures as ordered by the provider.
Routes patients to ancillary department for diagnostic testing, schedules tests, procedures and assists with scheduling hospital admissions.
Maintains a safe, secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations.
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential as required by HIPAA.
Practices and adheres to the Blood Borne Pathogen Policy as required by OSHA.
Contacts patient or provider with normal and abnormal test results or to coordinate additional care as directed by the provider.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge and Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent.
CPR Certified.
Medical Assistant certification required from an accredited program.
Medical Terminology knowledge.
Knowledge of working with EMR.
Demonstrate competence in performing specific Medical Assistant skills such as vital signs and administering injections.
Proven ability to provide excellent customer service such as having a positive attitude towards others, being adaptable in stressful situations, and proper phone etiquette.
Ability to interpret and apply administrative policies and procedures.
Exhibit quality oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Grammar, spelling and punctuation proficiency.
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is $18.50 - $35.29. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
