Qualifications

Basic Requirements
United States Citizenship or, if not a citizen, appointment only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine/osteopathic medicine from a VA-approved school at the time of graduation.
Full and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a US state, territory, Commonwealth or DC.
Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification.
For faculty status, board certification may be required.
Residency may be ACGME or AOA accredited, or other valid residency with ≥5 years of verified US practice deemed acceptable by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
Physicians in accredited residency programs who otherwise meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).
PRPs must hold a fully licensed physician credential, can be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis, are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged; they may perform restricted duties under supervision.
English-language proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred: Board-certified or board-eligible in cardiovascular disease.
Non-Invasive Academic Cardiologist with advanced imaging expertise, including Level II cardiac CT training.
Completion of Level II cardiac CT training.
Physical requirements: moderate lifting 15–44 lb;
use of fingers;
walking 6 hrs;
standing 4 hrs;
near vision correctable at 13–16 inches to Jaeger 1–4;
hearing (hearing aid permitted).
Duties
Provide non-invasive cardiovascular care: transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, stress testing, ECG interpretation, and advanced cardiac CT imaging.
Support inpatient consult service, outpatient specialty care, and trainee education.
Engage extensively in teaching cardiology fellows, internal medicine residents, and medical students.
Participate in clinically oriented or imaging-focused research within VA or UTSW.
Work schedule Monday–Friday 08:00–16:30, with possible nights, weekends, holidays, on-call duties.
