Job Description Summary
The Lead Therapist III in the Physical or Occupational Therapy Department reports to the Rehab Manager. Under general supervision, the Lead Therapist III develops, supervises and provides optimal patient care services as referred by physician for Physical or Occupational Therapy, based on population-specific needs utilizing a developmental and patient/family directed approach. This role provides daily operational supervision to assigned staff; Physical and Occupational Therapists, Volunteers, Therapy Technicians, and Physical and Occupational Therapy Assistants. This position functions as a mentor and expert in specific clinical area and possesses advanced clinical skills. Provides clinical education experiences for physical therapy students as assigned. The Lead Therapist III may work in both outpatient and inpatient services, all units throughout the hospital based on assigned caseload.

Additional Job Description
Education:

A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Must be a current MUSC Level III therapist or have previous leadership experience. Experience in a Level 1 Trauma center preferred. Work and/or educational experience centered on promoting group/team working relations is preferred. Knowledge of the department’s patient population, health care trends, community and regional resources and service availability to these populations.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to role model and establish effective collegial working relationships and communications with diverse groups and individuals, medical staff, and other healthcare disciplines. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong time management, project management, technical, critical thinking, and clinical skills are required. Knowledge of regulatory requirements preferred. Current South Carolina licensure and NBCOT certification required. 4 years of applicable experience or more. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
