Position Summary
This Ph.D. position will commence Spring 2021 in the Department of Plant Pathology. The candidate will conduct surveillance of fungicide resistance among Alternaria spp. in commercial cole crop fields using traditional and molecular methods. The role involves laboratory, greenhouse and field work, data analysis, and collaboration within a multi‑state, interdisciplinary team of scientists and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
60%
– Field, greenhouse and laboratory work to study the distribution of fungicide resistance in commercial cole crop fields.
20%
– Completion of graduate student course credits.
20%
– Writing reports and presenting data at symposiums.
Qualifications
M.S. degree in Plant Pathology (or equivalent). Experience with mycology and bioinformatics is preferred.
Interest in both basic and applied plant pathology research.
Physical Demands
Light lifting, standing and/or sitting for extended periods.
