Temporary Faculty Pool – Geological Sciences Department, College of Science – California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
Position
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. The role is for teaching in the following subject areas: Oceanography, Meteorology, Engineering Geology, or Introduction to Geology.
Responsibilities
Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum.
Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses in a variety of modes (in‑person, asynchronous, or synchronous).
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Geology or a related discipline relevant to the curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Geology or a related discipline.
Prior college or university teaching experience and evidence of strong teaching.
Industry experience.
Salary and Benefit Information
Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The monthly base salary ranges (at July 2024) are as follows: Lecturer A: $5,507–$6,677; Lecturer B: $6,221–$13,224; Lecturer C: $6,825–$14,523; Lecturer D: $8,593–$15,211.
