Summary
The High School computer science Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the Scheck Hillel instructional program in our High School. In addition, they will guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their individual academic and social‑emotional potential. Specifically, this position is designed to implement and realize the Scheck Hillel educational vision for students & faculty. The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, a strong background in education and a genuine love for teaching children. The High School English teacher is responsible for teaching English in the High School, and topics may include literary reading and analysis, grammar, writing, vocabulary and more. The teacher should have a sound understanding of teaching reading, writing, and thinking through literature, communication, creativity, and collaboration in the classroom.

Responsibilities
Create a positive student‑centered learning environment and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and encourages student engagement and ensures curriculum cohesion
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning that meet the needs of all learners
Communicate clear learning targets & success criteria to students for all learning activities
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction; develop formative & summative assessments in accordance with established procedures
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
Manage student behavior in the classroom to facilitate learning and maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development as required by laws and school policies
Communicate consistently and in a timely manner with parents on their child’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements
Maintain safety & security of the students in the classroom and common school areas
Supervise students at various school functions such as field trips, overnight trips and school assemblies
Attend all parent‑teacher conferences, back‑to‑school nights, and faculty meetings
Supervise lunch and recess
Stay up‑to‑date on current educational trends and research to continually improve teaching practice
Facilitate office hours
Document lesson plans, assessments, and curriculum in Atlas; post materials, assignments, and grades to the school's LMS (ehillel) in a timely manner
Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
Dedication to creating a nurturing and challenging learning environment for our students
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; Master’s degree preferred
A minimum of three years teaching experience in a high‑school setting
Valid teaching certification, preferred
Strong knowledge of pedagogical practices and learning theories
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
