Job Description
We are looking for an Interpreter – Spanish to provide interpreting and translation services at Texas Children’s, the best‑ranked children’s hospital in Texas. The role presents a positive, professional image while supporting patients, families, and staff.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Skills & Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
At least 2 years of related healthcare experience.
At least 2 years of healthcare interpreter experience preferred.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provide oral interpreting services for domestic and international patients across inpatient, outpatient, day surgery, and emergency settings.
Interpret clinical and healthcare discussions among staff, patients, families, and physicians.
Respond to interpreting assignments promptly and professionally.
Maintain accurate medical terminology and fluency in both English and Spanish.
Interpret without editorializing and uphold a professional code of ethics.
Deliver video remote interpreting (VRI) services, including equipment setup and instruction.
Provide telephone interpreting services.
Perform written translation services according to established rules of grammar and structure.
Carry out departmental duties as needed.
Support the international patient program.
All successful candidates will be required to undertake respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
