Overview
The Site Services Installation Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and enforcing the Company’s safety program and applicable subcontractor safety requirements under the direction of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, Site Supervisor, and in coordination with the General Contractor (GC). This role ensures that Subzero Engineering employees and lower tier subcontractors perform work safely and in compliance with OSHA, company policies, and site-specific safety plans.
The Safety Coordinator identifies, corrects, documents, and communicates jobsite hazards within the Company’s scope of work and coordinates corrective actions with the EHS Manager and GC when hazards affect other trades or shared work areas.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and operations
Identify, correct, and document hazards related to fall protection, elevated work, material handling, rigging, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms, forklifts, and telehandlers
Immediately address unsafe conditions involving personnel or equipment
Coordinate hazard mitigation with the EHS Manager and GC safety team when issues impact other trades or shared spaces
Enforce compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, company safety policies, and GC Site Specific Safety Plans
Support implementation of subcontractor safety programs and GC safety requirements
Participate in incident, injury, and near miss investigations and ensure timely reporting
Assist with Job Hazard Analyses and Activity Hazard Analyses
Support emergency response procedures as directed
Conduct or assist with safety orientations, task specific briefings, and toolbox talks
Verify required training, certificates, and operator qualifications
Maintain inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and corrective action tracking
Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Perform other duties as assigned
Authority
Authorized to stop work when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed
Authorized to require corrective actions prior to work resuming
Escalate unresolved or site wide hazards to the GC safety management team immediately
Requirements
Safety Requirements
Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures
Report unsafe conditions promptly
Attend required safety training
Support safety goals and recommend improvements
Follow safe work practices, including ergonomics, PPE use, and lockout procedures
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred
Two to five years of construction safety experience, preferably in a subcontractor environment
OSHA 30 Hour Construction certification required
OSHA 510 or 511, or equivalent training, preferred
Demonstrated competency in hazard recognition within the Company’s scope of work
Understanding of GC controlled jobsite safety coordination
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to professionally enforce safety requirements in the field
Valid driver's license with ability to pass initial and annual DMV review
Experience in Microsoft Office and construction-related tracking and reporting software
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on active construction sites
Exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, moving equipment, and environmental irritants
