Responsibilities
As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of an agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. You will also perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning.

Stand/walk 95‑100% of shift.

Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

Push/pull greater than 75 lbs.

Repetitive motion of hand/wrist.

Grasp/pinch.

Use hearing adequately.

Full use of both hands.

Color‑identify and distinguish.

Verbal communication.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of laboratory functions, medical terminology, background in science and 1‑2 years medical experience is preferred.

Additional Qualifications

All applicants must attach a cover letter and resume.

DLMP/MCS employees less than 2 years in their current position must attach an early release approval from their supervisor.

Internal applicants must attach their three most recent performance appraisals.

Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred.

Science background preferred.

1‑2 years medical experience preferred.

Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment.

Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents.

Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.

Effective oral and written communication.

Experience with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations.
