Job Overview
Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital is a close-knit, team-oriented, AAHA-accredited small animal practice looking for a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to animals, assisting veterinarians in various procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the veterinary clinic. This role requires a strong understanding of animal physiology and the ability to handle a variety of species. Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician is required.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.

Perform diagnostic tests, including X-rays and laboratory work.

Maintain aseptic technique during surgical procedures.

Anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery.

Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.

Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care when necessary.

Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments.

Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and dental hygiene.

Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.

Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic's facilities and equipment.

Skills

Proficient in aseptic technique to prevent infection during procedures.

Knowledgeable in X-ray procedures and interpretation.

Strong understanding of animal physiology and anatomy.

Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures relevant to veterinary medicine.

Knowledge of dental terminology related to animal care.

Excellent dog handling skills, ensuring safety for both the animal and staff.

Ability to provide veterinary critical care in emergency situations.

Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with pet owners and team members.

Experience with Avimark software (a plus, but not required).
