
Elevator Mechanic

Responsibilities
Installation & Maintenance:
Assemble new units and perform routine maintenance, including oiling, greasing, and checking parts.
Troubleshooting & Repair:
Diagnose malfunctions in brakes, motors, and control systems using test equipment, such as voltmeters and ammeters.
Safety Compliance:
Conduct safety tests to ensure compliance with state and local building codes.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, and parts used.
Client Interaction:
Respond to emergency service calls and communicate with building managers regarding repairs.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Previous experience in a mechanical or electrical field; usually requires a 4-year apprenticeship.
Certifications:
A Certified Competent Conveyance Mechanic (CCCM) license.
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of elevator systems, blueprints, and electrical circuitry.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces or at heights.
Licensure:
Most states require a specialized license, such as the Certified Competent Conveyance Mechanic (CCCM) in California.
Common Qualifications :
Valid driver's license .
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills .
Ability to work independently or after hours .
Technical Proficiency:
Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and traction and hydraulic systems.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
Problem Solving:
Strong diagnostic skills to identify root causes of equipment failure.
Soft Skills:
Professionalism when interacting with clients and the ability to work independently or as part of a service crew.
