Job Description
In this role, you will support licensed journeyman electricians with installation, delivery, and troubleshooting of piping, heating and cooling units, and related electrical and low-voltage work in new construction residential, multi-family, and light industrial buildings. This role requires minor electrical experience, with a strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to perform physically demanding labor tasks in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

Assist journeyman technicians with new installation of piping and heating and cooling units in new construction residential, multi-family, and light industrial buildings.

Support delivery, installation, and basic troubleshooting of pipes and plumbing equipment under the guidance of licensed technicians.

Perform general labor tasks on construction sites, including site cleanup, material handling, and basic installation support.

Use basic hand and power tools such as impact drills, reciprocating saws, wire strippers, levels, screwdrivers, hammers, drywall saws, bits, flashlights or headlamps, and channel locks as part of daily work.

Follow instructions from journeyman technicians and supervisors to complete tasks accurately, efficiently, and safely.

Read or follow basic instructions, drawings, or guidance related to electrical, wiring, and construction installation tasks as skills develop.

Essential Skills

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn electrical, low-voltage, and construction installation tasks.

1+ year of electrical helper experience or proven mechanical or construction aptitude.

Ability to use an impact driver and basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and pliers.

Comfort with frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting 100+ pounds with a team member.

Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to job sites and the shop as required.

Willingness to assist with wiring, conduit work, and basic electrical and low-voltage tasks under supervision.

Work Environment
The work environment is team-oriented, fast-paced, and centered around active construction and service sites. You typically work Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the potential for 60+ hours per week during busy periods due to a high volume of new projects. After training, you participate in an on-call rotation approximately every six weeks, with additional compensation for on-call duty. You are paired with a journeyman technician and start your day either by meeting at the job site or at the shop, then travel together to various locations. The dress code requires jeans, work boots, and a work-appropriate T-shirt, with company-branded T-shirts provided. You are expected to bring and maintain basic hand tools, with opportunities to expand your tool set as you grow in the role.

Job Type & Location
Permanent position based out of Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year.
