Position Summary
Department: DPH Intermediate Critical Care / Multisystem PCU

Title: Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager | Charge Registered Nurse | RN Supervisor

Shift: Nights (7:00 pm – 7:00 am)

Employment: Variable Full‑Time (Three 12‑hour shifts with rotating weekends)

Unit Overview
The ICC / Multisystem Progressive Care Unit is a 33‑bed unit adjacent to the ICU. It is a transitional step‑down for patients who no longer need intensive care but still require close monitoring. Patients may have specialized medication drips such as Nicardipine, Insulin, Nitroglycerin and may need ventilator support.

Responsibilities

Participate in a shared leadership structure.

Manage staffing assignments for incoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and skill set of team members.

Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.

Monitor overall status of patients within area of responsibility and closely monitor status of seriously ill patients.

Participate in the delivery of patient care ensuring compliance with physician orders, procedures, and standards of practice.

Serve as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers as appropriate.

Support clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay.

Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.

Interface with patients and families to enhance customer experience through Nurse Leader rounds and addressing patient/family and physician complaints.

Participate in or lead safety huddles.

Embrace, communicate, and promote change and problem solving.

Assess equipment needs to ensure staff have the necessary equipment for patient care.

Support and sustain all leader‑driven initiatives.

Assist with retention strategies for new team members that foster a best‑place‑to‑work environment.

Maintain a regulatory‑ready environment of care.

Ensure appropriate allocation of staff, assignment of meal breaks, relief of team members as indicated.

Utilize effective fiscal management skills and financial resources with decision‑making.

Maintain regularly punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.

Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education/Training

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Florida or the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Certification in area of expertise preferred.

May require additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Experience

2+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Prior preceptor, charge nurse, or leadership experience highly preferred but not required.
