About The Job
MedStar Health is looking for an Inpatient Occupational Therapist to join our team at Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Occupational Therapist with strong problem‑solving skills, the ability to work cohesively within a team environment, and excellent verbal and oral communication skills. Responsibilities include initial evaluation, reevaluation, treatment planning and implementation, reporting, and documentation for all referred patients in line with departmental and professional standards.
Primary Duties
Provide evidence‑based care and patient services in occupational therapy, including evaluation, treatment planning, DME recommendations, and discharge planning.
Teach and train patients, families, and caregivers, accessing appropriate additional information for individualized care and demonstrating sound clinical reasoning.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of clinical interventions, discharge recommendations, charges, and prescriptions, and write comprehensive conference reports.
Ensure documentation reflects acute rehabilitation care needs, follow hospital policies, and complete outcome data according to department guidelines.
Participate in staff and team meetings, contribute to process improvement, pursue continuing education, and serve as a preceptor for new employees and student orientation.
Assist in developing or revising treatment guidelines in specialty areas, support program goals set by the Clinical Supervisor, and contribute to peer review, program evaluation, and process improvement activities.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
Professional competency as a general practitioner of occupational therapy.
Demonstrated independent use of varied evaluation and treatment approaches.
DC OT licensure or eligibility.
BLS (Basic Life Support).
