Job Summary
The Clinical Coordinator collaborates with the Director on the governance and leadership of the Department providing high-quality care in a patient-focused environment. Responsibilities include ensuring appropriate staffing plans 24/7, staff development, providing clinical expertise and monitoring, and compliance with regulatory agencies. Accountable for 24‑hour staffing of the Department.
Responsibilities
Human Resource Management:
Assist the Director with development and monitoring of staffing plans to ensure optimal quality of care, productivity and clinical outcomes; participate in the interview process and make hiring recommendations; provide leadership to personnel and act as a role model and mentor; provide feedback on performance; develop orientation and ongoing training programs; evaluate clinical competence of staff; input to the Director on performance evaluations; consult on employee relations issues; use KRONOS time and attendance system; complete staffing schedules and approve or deny requests.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure departmental compliance with applicable JCAHO, federal, state and local regulatory agencies; assist with implementation and monitoring of Women’s Health quality and safety initiatives; submit data to regulatory agencies including state perinatal submission requirements.
Service Excellence / Patient Satisfaction:
Develop an environment of service excellence; recommend goals and objectives; maintain quality improvement plans and customer satisfaction programs; engage staff in performance improvement, research, quality initiatives, and shared governance.
Leadership:
Apply leadership skills consistent with role, delegate care appropriately, provide positive feedback, coordinate care within multidisciplinary team, manage conflict, participate and promote professional practice on committees, councils, policy development, unit/hospital projects or professional organizations.
Caring Relationships:
Foster relationship-based care; keep patients and families informed; involve them in decision making; respond to concerns; expedite discharges by following unit guidelines.
Operations:
Develop, implement and monitor departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives; maintain clinical expertise and high standards; collaborate with physicians and other departments; monitor operating systems to maximize quality and efficiency; identify areas needing enhancement and provide recommendations.
Patient Safety:
Assist with risk management and safety investigations; communicate incidents; resolve problems using CQI process.
Qualifications
BSN required.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in NYS.
Minimum 5 years of emergency, urgent care or acute care experience.
Preferably 2 years of management/leadership experience.
BLS certification within one year of hire.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to initiate a nursing care plan and prioritize tasks.
Demonstrates customer service and team-building skills.
Competent in Microsoft Office.
Compensation
Salary Range: $35.00–$57.84. Compensation may vary based upon overall experience, qualifications, shift and location.
