This position is per diem. Employees are required to take any shift (1st, 2nd, 3rd) at the hospital on an as needed basis as coverage is needed, including the flexibility to work holidays and weekends based on business need.

Our office is located at Owensboro Regional Hospital, 1201 Pleasant Valley Rd, Owensboro, KY, 42303.

We offer 6 weeks of paid on-the-job training: 2 weeks on-site (EMR training & 1:1 training) and an additional 4 weeks with mentor. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule. Training will be conducted on‑site.

Primary Responsibilities

Greet patients

Coordinate patient flow to reduce wait times

Assist patients with intake processes

Process walk-in patients and visitors

Duties include but are not limited to:

Confirm eligibility and verify insurance benefits

Ensure all necessary demographic and billing information is obtained for patients and entered in the computer system timely and accurately

May schedule appointment times using computerized scheduling programs

Explain financial responsibilities for services received, payment options, and collection procedures to patients and/or parties responsible for payment

Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits and recommend alternative sources of payment and/or financial assistance when appropriate

Accept payments and co‑pays

Communicate effectively with insurance companies, external agencies, patients, physicians, and team members

The pace is fast, so your ability to multi‑task is essential. You should also enjoy working with people and have the communication skills necessary to build strong relationships with our customers.

Benefits
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401(k) contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED

1+ years of customer service experience

Ability to work any shift at the hospital (1st, 2nd, 3rd) on a per diem basis, as coverage is needed

Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

1+ years of related work experience, including data entry

Working knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology

Experience in emergency department
