Northwest Texas Healthcare System (NWTHS), a 495‑bed system in Amarillo, Texas, seeks a Nurse Educator to support onboarding, competency validation, and continuous education for unit staff. The role includes assigning preceptors, coordinating orientation progress meetings, partnering with nursing leadership, and maintaining regulatory compliance with The Joint Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Board of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities

Assist new hires with onboarding and orientation, integrating assignment of preceptors and review of orientation packets.

Coordinate orientation progress meetings with new hires, preceptors, and nursing leadership.

Oversee annual competency validation for all units and support regulatory compliance.

Collaborate with organizational leadership to promote safety and Service Excellence standards.

Participate in cross‑functional teams to measure, assess, and improve unit performance.

Document and drive continuous improvement of unit processes and outcomes.

Implement and evaluate new or enhanced services and training initiatives.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Current Texas state nursing license or permit.

BSN required or national nursing specialty certification within one year of becoming a unit‑based educator.

At least three years of nursing experience; education experience preferred.

Handle With Care certification, updated annually.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, obtained before providing patient care.
