Job Summary
Provides emergency care in the pre‑hospital environment. Provides advanced‑level medical care including evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the ill and injured. Possesses comprehensive knowledge to diagnose and care for a broad range of medical emergencies. Responds to calls for emergency medical assistance such as CPR or wound bandaging. Assesses patients' conditions, determines a course of treatment and offers first‑aid, life‑support care per acceptable medical practice standards.

Job Requirements

High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required

Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Three years' full time experience in a 911 system: Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

Paramedic license in state of practice: Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) or HS‑BLS or RQIBLS American Heart Association: Required

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS or HS‑ACLS or RQIACLS) certification: Required

Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) or equivalent: Preferred

Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 years of age or older: Required

Facility Specific License & Certifications

AHA‑BLS or ARC‑BLS: Required

AHA‑ACLS or ARC‑ALS: Required

Essential Functions

Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation according to acceptable medical practice standards, standing orders, online medical control and department policies.

Provides emergency care in the pre‑hospital environment.

Provides fundamental components of patient comfort, safety, privacy and respect.

Conducts emergency medical classes as requested by department manager.

Administers oral and intravenous medications, intubates patients, performs surgical airway insertion (cricothyrotomy) and places catheters for venous access such as central venous lines.

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
