Job Description
Patient Care Coordinators are responsible for providing exceptional service by welcoming patients and ensuring all check-in and check-out processes are completed.
Responsibilities
Acknowledge and greet patients, customers, and vendors as they walk into the practice in a friendly and welcoming manner.
Answer and respond to telephone inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Gather patients and insurance information.
Verify and enter patient demographics into the EMR, ensuring all fields are complete.
Verify vision and medical insurance information and enter it into the EMR.
Maintain a clear understanding of insurance plans and be able to communicate insurance information to patients.
Pull schedules to ensure insurance eligibility prior to patient appointments and ensure files are complete.
Prepare insurance claims and run reports to ensure all charges are billed and filed.
Print and prepare forms for patients’ visits.
Collect and document all charges, co-pays, and payments into the EMR.
Allocate balances to insurance as needed.
Always maintain a clean workspace.
Practice economy in the use of equipment and supplies.
Perform other duties as needed and as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic computer literacy.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Must be able to maintain patient and practice confidentiality.
Physical Demands
Requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.
