Position Overview
The

Career Pathways Manager

plays a critical role in supporting the academic, professional, and career success of One Refugee scholars through individualized coaching, industry-aligned programming, and relationship-building with employers, volunteers, and partners. This role blends 1:1 student coaching with industry-specific workforce development, professional partnership cultivation, and volunteer engagement.

Each Career Pathways Manager maintains a caseload of scholars aligned to one or more career industries (e.g., healthcare, technology, business, education, skilled trades). By developing deep industry knowledge and external partnerships, the Industry Pathways Manager helps scholars build career clarity, professional skills, and access to meaningful opportunities.

This role is highly relational, strategic, and collaborative, working closely with scholars, volunteers, partners, and the broader One Refugee team.

Key Responsibilities
Scholar Coaching & Case Management

Manage a caseload of up to 65-70 scholars in STEM or business majors.

Meet at least monthly with scholars in one-on-one coaching sessions to support academic progress, career exploration, goal setting, and professional development.

Document all scholar meetings in Salesforce and follow up on needed tasks and support.

Track scholar updates, curriculum progress, and outcomes in Salesforce.

Utilize the One Refugee curriculum to support scholars in developing academic, career-readiness, and life skills.

Guide scholars in career exploration, resume development, internship/job readiness, and early career planning within their chosen industry.

Assess scholar needs and connect them to appropriate campus, community, and professional resources.

Industry & Employer Engagement

Develop and maintain relationships with employers, professional associations, and industry partners aligned with scholars' career pathways.

Identify industry-specific opportunities such as internships, job shadows, informational interviews, mentorships, and entry-level employment.

Oversee the unpaid internship process, including intern and partner training, mid-semester check-ins, and internship stipends.

Serve as an industry point of contact for partners and volunteers engaging with One Refugee scholars.

Collaborate with the One Refugee team to grow strategic workforce partnerships that advance scholar outcomes.

Recruit, onboard, and support industry-specific volunteers (e.g., mentors, career speakers, resume reviewers).

Coordinate volunteer engagement aligned with scholar needs and program goals.

Support positive volunteer experiences and ensure alignment with One Refugee’s mission and values.

Campus & Community Partnerships

Maintain relationships with college and university departments to identify academic, financial, and career resources for scholars.

Collaborate with community-based organizations to support scholar success and professional exposure.

Coordinate with college/university departments to award, process, and track financial support for scholars.

Track scholar financial eligibility and support with textbook and other supply purchases.

Work with One Refugee staff to ensure timely and accurate payments and documentation.

Events & Programming

Plan and support industry-aligned workshops, career panels, orientations, conferences, and community-building events.

Collaborate with staff, interns, scholars, and volunteers to create engaging programming that fosters belonging and professional growth.

Cross-Functional Contributions

Contribute to organisational initiatives or special projects as needed.

Serve in lead or portfolio roles as assigned, based on organizational needs and individual strengths.

Organisational & Program Support

Participate in shared decision-making related to program design, curriculum updates, and continuous improvement.

Support application review, scholar interviews, and onboarding processes.

Supervise or support interns as needed.

Qualifications & Skills
Required

Experience coaching, advising, or mentoring college students or young adults

Strong relationship-building and communication skills

Cultural humility and experience working with diverse populations

Knowledge of career exploration, workforce development, or postsecondary education systems

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office

Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms

Preferred

Familiarity with STEM and business career pathways, through professional work experience or advising/mentoring in fields such as engineering, computer science, or finance

Experience in workforce development, employer engagement, or industry partnerships

Familiarity with refugee, immigrant, or first-generation college student populations

Experience using Canva

Reports to the Utah Director

Some evening and weekend events are required

Reliable transportation required

Fully work authorized; no visa sponsorship available

Hybrid role with 2–3 in-office days per week
