Job Summary

Registered Nurses provide quality nursing services by working with the patient care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patients’ care and by providing a positive, supportive environment. The Registered Nurse is the front-line representative of the patient care team often serving as the intermediary between the patient and family, the provider(s), and other care team members. This role is expected to participate in performance improvement initiatives; maintain professional competence; develop others; uphold confidentiality, safety, and professional standards; and support Shared Governance through service on councils or sponsored activities.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Patient Care and Care Coordination: Monitor, examine, and evaluate patients’ conditions. Assist with the care plan and take appropriate actions to promote short/long-term outcomes and wellbeing. Deliver care as outlined, applying independent judgment where appropriate. Collaborate with and communicate patient care plans with other staff as appropriate. Prioritize and coordinate optimum daily patient flow and patient experience. Deliver safe and effective care according to policies and procedures. Maintain documentation of patient assessment, changes in condition, care delivered, education provided, and any incidents or exceptions related to standards of care or compliance with hospital policy.
Patient Advocacy and Satisfaction: Listen to concerns, probe to understand needs, respond in an appropriately timely manner. Serve as an educational resource for patients and families on health-related issues. Communicate necessary patient information to family, licensed care providers, and other staff. Embrace patient- and family-centered care to maintain satisfaction among patients, families, staff, and physicians. Prioritize actions according to patient needs and provide input into the plan of care while maintaining confidentiality standards.
Performance Improvement: Seek opportunities to improve the work environment and processes. Contribute ideas to help identify solutions and support change implementation. Support improvement initiatives aligned with better patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and organizational performance.
Professional Competency and Growth: Maintain professional licenses and certifications. Complete required training. Self-identify and manage training and development opportunities. Stay current with research literature and industry best practices. Seek opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.
Professional Leadership: Foster growth and development of other nurses through mentorship and preceptorship. Promote a positive and supportive work environment. Adhere to confidentiality, safety, and professional standards. Act with professionalism, embrace shared governance, and demonstrate integrity. Hold self and others accountable for practice through the peer feedback process. Support recruitment of nurses to Wellstar and contribute to a positive profession.

Required Minimum Education

Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing - Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)

BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor or BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support
RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or ARC-PALS - American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS-I - PALS - Instructor or PALS-P - PALS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course or ATCN - Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses Course or TNCC-P - Trauma Nurse Core Course - Provisional (18 Months) within 18 Months
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor or ACLS-P - ACLS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
