Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Neurology (Neurology 8 East)
About the Unit
Neurology 8 East cares for patients with conditions such as strokes, seizures, brain tumors, and brain bleeds. LPNs gain valuable experience in neuro-focused care while working closely with RNs, providers, and therapy teams in a supportive inpatient setting.
About the Role
The Neurology LPN provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or provider. Responsibilities include performing skills within scope, assisting with patient assessments, supporting safety initiatives, documenting care, and collaborating closely with the healthcare team. This role is well‑suited for LPNs who enjoy variety, teamwork, and caring for patients with complex needs.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
Active LPN license in Missouri or a compact state
BLS certification through the American Heart Association (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
Prior hospital or acute‑care experience
Additional certifications related to inpatient or specialty care
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and assist up to 50 pounds
Prolonged standing and walking
Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and assist patients safely
Schedule & Shift Options
Full‑time: 36 hours per week
Part‑time: 24 hours per week
Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
12‑hour shifts, self‑scheduling available
Free on‑campus parking
