Job Summary
PeaceHealth is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join our Sterile Processing team at Peace Harbor Medical Center in Florence, Oregon. This Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision, teamwork, and supporting safe surgical care behind the scenes.
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you’ll play a critical role in patient safety by ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are thoroughly cleaned, decontaminated, assembled, and sterilized according to the highest standards. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $22.56 – $33.48. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement, and there may be multiple openings for this role.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.
Re‑stocking inventory.
Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.
Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
Clean and maintain department equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma (Preferred) or equivalent.
Experience
Preferred: Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Process Technician.
Credentials
Required: Within 1 Year National Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM, as a Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST), or certification from CBSPD as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT) or other nationally recognized certifying body.
Required: Within 1 Year CER Certified Endoscope Reprocessor if working in PHMG.
Required: Fingerprinting - State of Alaska (Alaska Requirement).
Skills
Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications. (Required)
Department / Location Specific Notes
Minimum of three (3) months’ experience as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred or three (3) months’ experience in other medical related role.
Active enrollment (within 90 days of hire date) in educational program/training for National Central Services Technician Course to obtain certification requirements within one year. Provide proof of enrollment, course progress or completion required.
Must be able to manage conflict effectively and professionally.
Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on meeting time sensitive deadlines.
Good customer service skills and good interpersonal skills.

Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment frequently.
Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs.
Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.
Reaching frequently.
Squat/kneel occasionally.
Environmental
Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Mental/Visual
Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
