Performs variety of patient care, technical, and administrative duties to assist practitioners and other members of health care team in providing high quality patient care through health care system. The Medical Assistant participates as a team member in the overall functioning of the clinic. The

Medical Assistant

is responsible for the flow of the patients for assigned providers (as applicable) each day. They perform duties and procedures as described in the Primary Responsibilities section.

About the Transplant Clinic
Our transplant clinic nursing and medical assistant teams provide specialized care for patients receiving assessment and treatment for blood and marrow transplant patients in three specialized areas: allogeneic, autologous and pediatric. Patients receiving care in the Transplant Clinic receive ongoing care over multiple months from a dedicated, multidisciplinary care team.

1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week - Fully Onsite - Monday through Friday - 5x8 shifts possible Weekends and Holidays

Responsibilities

All Essential Functions of the MA I position

Leave paperwork / Prior Authorizations /Prescriptions refills

Answering / screening incoming phone calls

Coordinating outside labs results and notify pt. of norm labs results

Acts as preceptor/ trainer

Reinforce compliance in billing / coding

Facilitates distribution of clinical contacts, schedules and care management tools

Monitor and assist with clinic flow

Request medical record from external/internal facilities and prepare for provider review

Collaborate with clinic nursing supervisor to develop operational strategies and process improvements for department / unit

Assist in resolving and/or responding to non-clinical related patient complaints and inquiries

Qualifications
Required:

Completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); or

Military training or experience may also satisfy the training and experience requirements

Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice.

Current Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington within 30 days of hire as applicable, depending on location

Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years

2+ years relevant work experience

Willingness to participate in the process improvement initiatives

Proficient in email and word processing systems

Experience with Electronic Medical Records

Strong interpersonal and customer services skills

Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment

Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve

Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner

Ability to follow direction and guidance

Ability to recognize limitations and seek help

Ability to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunities

Ability to appropriately respond to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol and scope of practice

The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.26 to $44.51 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
