Role Overview
As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and providing caring service that exceeds expectations. They operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices, and effective communication, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.
Required Training
Once hired a Technician must complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all state Board of Pharmacy registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Until all requirements are completed duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities
Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to support pharmacists in managing and improving patient health.
Execute pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
Provide positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, and escalating patient problems as needed.
Perform basic inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores in the market to work shifts as required.
Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws and CVS policies regarding patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and privacy.
Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing) as allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities
Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report adverse events per public health requirements.
Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, licensure, and certification.
If the state board does not specify a minimum age, be at least 16 years old.
If the state board does not specify a minimum education requirement, have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in a high school or equivalency program.
Meet state‑level licensure and national certification requirements as applicable to the state of employment.
Essential Functions
Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
Complete required training within its designated timeframe.
Demonstrate attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between tasks, and verify prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
Show customer service and team orientation: actively help people, understand patient reactions, and respond appropriately.
Use verbal and written communication effectively, employ active listening, and ask clarifying questions when necessary.
Apply mathematical reasoning to solve problems such as determining tablet counts, day supplies, and bottle quantities.
Resolve problems effectively by identifying challenging interactions and selecting the best course of action.
Meet physical demands: remain mobile, lift and handle items, reach overhead, reach with arms and fingers, adjust equipment precisely, and perform tasks requiring visual acuity.
Perform any additional tasks directed by a supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
1–3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service setting.
Ability to work in multiple stores within the market to meet business needs.

$19.00 – $29.00 per hour (or the equivalent base annual full‑time salary for the job grade).
