Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in supporting veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
Safely restrain animals for examinations and treatments
Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness throughout the hospital
Collect and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal)
Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
Monitor hospitalized patients and report any changes to the medical team
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
Support client communication and provide basic education on pet care
Assist with radiology, surgery prep, and anesthesia monitoring (if trained)
Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed
Qualifications
Minimum of 1–2 years of veterinary assistant experience preferred
Knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques
Familiarity with basic veterinary procedures and terminology
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and handle physically demanding tasks
Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with digital radiography and laboratory equipment
Knowledge of veterinary practice management software
Fear Free Certification or willingness to obtain
