POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will perform various accounting duties in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and CPA’s accounting, audit, and reporting requirements and policies. Job responsibilities will include maintaining and analyzing general ledger records and budget variances, preparing program reports, ensuring fiscal compliance with assigned contracts, processing accounts receivable and deposits, balance sheet account reconciliations, and preparing monthly and/or quarterly grant reports for both government and private funders.
The individual must possess a blend of technical, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication and individual leadership skills. The ability to effectively interact and build credible relationships with the administrative team, which includes the Fiscal Office, and agency programs is critical. A commitment to and understanding of agency goals, financial acumen, excellent analytical and organization skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, prioritize and a focus on meeting all deliverables is essential, along with sound judgment, and ability to determine when and where independent judgment and initiative should be exercised.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
At least 3 or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, payroll, reconciliations, and internal management reporting.
Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT and non-profit accounting experience are strongly preferred.
Self-motivated individual with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

This role requires full-time, onsite presence at CPA’s Administrative Office (no remote or hybrid option).
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize the work appropriately.
Able to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment and implement changes quickly and accurately.
Strong emotional intelligence, decision making, analytical, computer and organization skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare monthly and/or quarterly grant and contract reporting.
Record journal entries with supporting backup attached.
Provide Program Managers and CFO with variance to budget analysis and expense/revenue forecasting.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.
Responsible for Accounts Receivable, including preparing and making the deposits bimonthly.
As appropriate, assist CFO with:

preparing internal financial statements

Establishing budgets
Reviewing and approving purchase orders
Assist with the annual audit, including:

Year-end reconciliation of general ledger accounts

Managing and compiling data and files for outside audit firm
Provide backup to Accounts Payable/Payroll Administrator for processing purchase orders, weekly check runs, and biweekly payroll, as needed.
Support the Administrative office with phone coverage and general support.
All other duties as assigned.
