Position Description
The Division of Transplant Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking to fill a Junior Specialist position. The position is intended for an individual with a strong interest in synthesizing, analyzing, presenting, and publishing study findings. This position will report to the Clinical Research Supervisor and work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. John Roberts.
Responsibilities
Collect data from operative notes, create data visualizations of UNOS, OPTN, and internal databases, and participate in the review and writing of protocols to ensure institutional review board approval within University compliance.
Work closely with the Principal Investigator to support the management and coordination of tasks of multiple liver transplant research studies, acting as an intermediary between the research team, physicians, and collaborators while overseeing data collection and management.
May interact with Spanish speaking patients; candidates who are fluent in Spanish are preferred.
Responsible for creating, cleaning, updating, and managing databases, comprehensive datasets, and reports.
Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Box, and Windows.
Effective oral and written communication, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and excellent analytical thinking.
Ability to multitask in a deadline-oriented environment.
Strong interest in surgery, especially abdominal transplant.
Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field, or at least 4 years of laboratory experience at the time of hire.

Estimated salary range: $55,000 – $58,600.
