Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Science (Animal Science or Biology preferred)
MS candidates are considered overqualified
Associate degree candidates are not eligible
High School diploma + 5 years of relevant experience may be considered
Entry Level:

Recent graduates with academic lab experience are acceptable
Preferred Experience:

Rat/mouse handling (not mandatory)
This role will initially focus on providing lab support to the necropsy and histology teams. It will not immediately involve performing those procedures. The expectation is to transition into a more hands-on role (such as a prosector position) after approximately 5–6 months, based on training progress and availability. Candidates should be comfortable with this progression.
Summary
With guidance from supervisors and team members, this role supports general laboratory operations and routine tasks that contribute to scientific research. The position helps maintain lab facilities and equipment according to established standards to ensure the accuracy and integrity of results. Work is performed following defined methods and training.
Essential Functions
Assist with setup, support during procedures, and cleanup activities related to necropsy work
Provide general support to necropsy and histology labs, including tasks such as:
Changing solutions
Printing slides and cassettes
Operating staining and other lab equipment
Weighing tissues
Preparing and packing specimens for shipment
Perform humane euthanasia of laboratory animals as required
Observe and record animal data such as weight and physical characteristics according to lab standards
Record environmental and equipment data (e.g., temperature, weight) to ensure compliance and data integrity
Work collaboratively to support timely and accurate production of histology slides; may assist with embedding, cutting, staining, and coverslipping based on workload and performance
Operate, clean, and maintain lab equipment and facilities following standard procedures
Order, receive, decontaminate, and store lab supplies and consumables
Assist with general lab operations, including preparing reagents and disposing of biological/chemical waste
Follow all regulatory guidelines, standard operating procedures, and good laboratory practices
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field

Willingness to work occasional weekends if the role progresses into a necropsy/histology technician position
