Schedule
Full‑time. Night shifts, alternating on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Apply technical knowledge and skills to maintain procedural quality standards. Perform department‑specific waived, moderately complex and high‑complexity applications.

Maintain and apply procedural knowledge to deliver efficient, uninterrupted service, while reporting results within specified time limits.

Perform all calibration, quality control, instrument function checks, patient testing and troubleshooting according to the section's procedure manual and operator's manual. Perform preventive maintenance and review maintenance logs for completeness when scheduled.

Monitor and review QC and worksheets for completeness when requested. Collect and evaluate data for QA issues.

Recognize, confirm and/or verify test results that are unusual, delta failures, or verify failures as described in the section's procedure manual or lab practice manual.

Help develop solutions to problems and communicate opportunities to improve quality, workflow, and other pertinent issues to coordinate with tech or lab manager.

Qualifications

Applicant must qualify under route 2, 3 or 4 of the ASCP Board of Certification.

Possess a bachelor's degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science and graduate of an NAACLS‑approved laboratory training program as applicable.

Must be registered as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology or be eligible to sit for the MLS certification exam.

Successful completion of certification exam within 12 months of employment.

If certified after January 1, 2004, must renew certification every three years by participating in and successfully completing the Certification Maintenance.
