Unit
The Saint Joseph Mercy Health System 6 North Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 20-bed unit that provides services to older adolescent, adult, and older adult cardiac patients, acute and chronic Heart Failure patients, as well as medical/surgical patients who require cardiac monitoring.
Full-Time (36 hours per week)
Day / Night rotation during training: 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m./7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Nights after orientation.
Responsibilities
Services are provided to critically ill adult patient. Patients in the unit require frequent and close assessment, skillful and timely clinical interventions and sophisticated technical support to achieve aggressive treatment goals. Majority of the patients within the unit have pulmonary diagnoses. Other common diagnoses are gastrointestinal bleeding, sepsis, neurologic events and diabetic ketoacidosis.
General Summary
Provides quality patient centered care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs through competent clinical practice and application of the nursing process. Consistently integrates concepts of relationship based care into practice. Serves as a clinical and educational resource to others on the unit. Assumes accountability for nursing care of designated patients. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Graduation from accredited nursing program
As of 1/1/12, newly hired Registered Nurses must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within a specified time frame.
Licensure
Requires current Michigan Nursing License
