Volkert Internship Program (VIP) . This position may be based out any of our offices. We do not offer relocation or housing assistance.

Our

VIP

is for undergraduate students majoring in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology. Our program is offered during the summer but may also be considered throughout fall or spring semester depending on office needs and resources.

What you'll be doing

Explore our industry and the field you are majoring in

Learn systems, processes, and best practices

Receive a project assignment or job duties that are related to your major

Learn business and office etiquette

Understand safety procedures when in the field

Present your project or experience to leadership at the end of your internship

What you need to have

Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student

Minimum of Sophomore standing is recommended

High school graduate with Freshman standing may be considered if involved in a STEM or leadership program

Have a cumulative 2.50 undergraduate GPA

Be enrolled in a degree seeking program related to a degree field below:

Civil Engineering

Structural Engineering

Construction Management

Civil Engineering Technology

Preference to work 40 hours per week (plus overtime, if necessary)

At a minimum, 30 hours per week during the summer

Hours may vary during the spring or fall semester

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines

If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.

Valid driver's license

A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
