Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing, and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift
Three 12‑hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM), 36 hours per week. May also work some weekends and holidays.
Job Summary
The primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care—assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to university policies, federal, state, and local regulations. The role supports collaborative efforts with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of Maslow’s eight basic human needs, Gordon’s functional health patterns framework, and Swanson’s caring model; superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills; basic computer navigation and internet proficiency; professional, respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills; motivation, pro‑activity, confidence in patient advocacy; teamwork; technical skills; independence and team collaboration.
Preferred Education
BSN plus at least one year of RN experience.
