Job Description
This position is a key contributor to the team leading the SMS Segment in contract analysis and documentation related to revenue recognition, leases, and other technical accounting topics. The ideal candidate for this role has strong technical ASC 606 and ASC 842 experience specifically in their application to government contracts and commercial contracts, and is considered an expert on revenue recognition.
Essential Functions
Lead teams in contract reviews to ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies and guidance
Work with accounting and finance teams to ensure well‑documented analyses to support our revenue recognition positions
Research GAAP to provide technical accounting recommendations for non‑routine or complex revenue transactions
Develop and deliver training to segment finance teams and peers for appropriate understanding of the application of revenue recognition guidance with respect to our contracts
Recommend process or policy additions or enhancements, as necessary, in support of technical accounting matters
Communicate with leadership to influence acceptance of concepts, practices, and or approaches
Support and update internal controls relating to the revenue recognition process, the lease process, and other technical accounting matters
Support internal and external audits of revenue recognition and other technical accounting matters
Conduct ad‑hoc accounting technical research as necessary
Ability to obtain US Government security clearance
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience; Or, Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience
CPA with active license
5 years of revenue recognition experience
Preferred Additional Skills
Strong project management skills, including demonstrated ability to think end‑to‑end and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to work under consultative direction and set own priorities
Master’s Degree in Accounting
Big Four experience, especially with audits or consulting for clients with government business and complex contracts
Experience with contract accounting and use of contracts modules in SAP, PeopleSoft, or Costpoint
