Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Director of ASD Clinical Services, the key responsibilities of the Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) include:
Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments/testing reports of individuals seeking Autism Spectrum Disorder eligibility (all ages).
Completing review of referrals submitted for OIDD Eligibility.
Completing/conducting Autism Spectrum Disorder screenings/assessments, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, record reviews, and staffing of cases that are diagnostically complex or challenging.
Submitting completed resolution reports within 10 business days.
Proactively researching and engaging in educational opportunities and skill-building activities to foster personal and professional growth.
Participating as a team member and providing back-up assistance to other staff.
Completing other duties as assigned.
BHDD-OIDD is a part of the state\'s behavioral health and developmental disabilities agency, providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions and substance use disorders through a holistic, streamlined and coordinated approach. OIDD assists in the planning, developing, coordinating, and funding services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability and related disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury and similar disability.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A doctorate in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and experience in the practice of applied psychology. South Carolina Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) with at least two (2) years of specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Training and experience with various evaluation and screening measures - cognitive, adaptive, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), etc. Current working knowledge/understanding of ASD and specific experience, training, and specialization in ASD services. Effective communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to work cooperatively with families, professionals, and the public. A valid SCDL in good standing.
Knowledge of psychological, educational and developmental needs of individuals with ASD. Knowledge of clinical supervision in ASD cases. Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to community social service programs. Knowledge of specialized needs in education and treatment for individuals with ASD. Ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports. Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish individual objectives. Ability to organize and maintain an appointment case load as necessary. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to prepare a comprehensive individual evaluation based on initial interviews, standardized test batteries, follow-up interviews and individualized tests.
