The Medical Assistant is a member of the health care team primarily responsible for providing support to physicians, nurses, and other licensed medical staff by facilitating efficient patient flow, assisting with various patient care activities, and performing related administrative functions. The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow through the clinic; maintaining neat, clean and safe patient care areas; promoting patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner; safeguarding patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities

Ensure efficient patient flow through the site: escort patients to exam rooms, identify patients with two identifiers, prepare patients for examination, obtain accurate vital signs, document reason for visit, confirm allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information, notify provider and registered nurse of significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms, anticipate and set up equipment or supplies needed for the visit, clean and prepare exam rooms for the next patient, and prioritize tasks to maintain patient flow.
Assist practitioner with medical and surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols, such as ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, setting up procedure trays, specimen collection, and CLIA waived testing as directed by the provider.
Provide high quality care by preparing and stocking all exam rooms, disinfecting and sterilizing equipment, participating in environmental safety rounds, maintaining vaccine/medication inventory, monitoring and maintaining equipment, assisting with ordering supplies, disposing of expired items, and following office opening and closing procedures.
Act as an integral part of the patient care team and promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner, accepting delegated responsibilities positively, offering assistance to others, attending staff meetings, and communicating appropriately with patients and the patient care team.
Perform delegated procedures common to the specialty area safely, effectively, and efficiently.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
Required

High school diploma or GED.
Current certification in one of the following or proof of meeting eligibility requirements for one of these five exams: AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA. • New MA graduates within six (6) months must submit a letter from the school or certifying body. • Non‑certified MAs or new graduates beyond six (6) months must submit a letter from the certifying body. Within the first six months of employment, one of the following certifications must be completed after up to two test attempts: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) through the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Signed acknowledgement during onboarding that certification must be attained within six (6) months, as a condition of employment.
American Heart Association accredited Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
Zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience in a relevant role.
Preferred

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
One to two years of ambulatory care experience.
Experience with electronic medical record systems.
