Position Overview
The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of assigned Academic Departments and Centers. Responsibilities include managing faculty and staff salary distributions, monitoring budgets and fund balances, reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance, and providing personalized service to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Assist higher-level Financial Analysts in reviewing and monitoring departmental accounts to ensure appropriate spending and compliance with university and external agency regulations.

Identify routine budget variances, provide explanations, and offer recommendations for corrective action.

Ensure accuracy in salary distributions, budget monitoring, and fund balance tracking.

Assist in reconciling UA payroll expenditures, preparing reconciliation reports, and maintaining accurate payroll data.

Initiate position distribution and funding changes in UAccess Employee, verify accuracy of funding requests, and collaborate with senior staff to ensure compliance.

Maintain annual funding plans and budget sheets, performing basic financial data analysis to track expenses against budget allocations.

Initiate adjustments such as salary expense transfers and support documentation preparation for budget modifications.

Reconcile UA Purchasing Card (P‑Card) transactions, compile supporting documentation, ensure compliance, and analyze spending patterns for cost reductions.

Provide financial data to administrative staff to support disbursement vouchers, travel authorizations, and expense reimbursements; assist with generating financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.

Initiate and process UA Foundation forms for reimbursements and fund transfers; collaborate with the finance team to monitor fund allocations.

Perform general error corrections to address accounting discrepancies and verify the accuracy of the general ledger.

Support higher-level Financial Analysts in monitoring grants and contracts, ensuring alignment with contract budgets and sponsor scope of work.

Assist in preparing financial forecasts, including historical data analysis, trend identification, and projections to support budgeting decisions.

Communicate with department faculty and staff, interpreting university and sponsor policies and procedures.

Organize and file departmental account documentation per records retention schedules and sponsor documentation requirements.

Perform additional duties and projects as needed to support financial operations and compliance.

Ability to multi‑task multiple projects and daily assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience.

One year of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of experience interpreting University and UA Foundation policies and procedures.

One year of experience working with the University Financial Systems.

One year of experience reconciling UA groups (state, designated, indirect cost recovery, sponsored, and other restricted gift accounts).

Compensation
Salary range: $53,039 – $66,299 annually.
