
Food Pantry Coordinator (Bilingual) Central Texas Food Bank

Position Overview
TheMarketCoordinator supports thegrowth and success ofCentral Texas Food Bank’s (CTFB)Fresh Harvest Marketin Waco.CTFB’s Fresh Harvest Market offers emergency access to nutritious food for Central Texans experiencing food insecurity. Located onsite at CTFB’sWaco facility, the market provides a dignified, choice-based shopping experience where neighbors can select fresh produce, shelf-stable groceries that meet theirhousehold’sneeds. In addition to food, visitors receive personalized support through a case management model that connects them to benefits like SNAP and other community resources. Responsibilities include overseeingclient intake and providing foodassistanceto individuals and families, connecting clients to community resources,working withvolunteers, and ensuring proper inventory and facility maintenance. This position plays a critical role at the Food Bank to address food access and health among food insecure clients, helping those clients to live healthier, morestableand self-sustaining lives. This position can also be physically demanding, as this role oversees the stocking of the pantry, and requires heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) most days.
Relationships
The position reports directly to theMarketManager. While situated within theNeighborPrograms+Services department, this role involves close collaboration with teams in Benefits and Emergency Services, Logistics, Culinary, and CommunityNutrition.
Your Qualifications
Bilingual in English and Spanish required
High School diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred; relevant work experience may substitute for a degree
2+ years related work experience
Experience providing superior customer service with a focus on relationship management in a service-delivery setting.
Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
Ability to adapt communication style to unique audience and cultural context, proactively identifying and overcoming breakdowns in communication.
Experience working on innovative client-focused strategies and successful execution, in a dynamic, highly collaborative environment.
Flexibility in response to change, adapting quickly to shifting priorities while staying focused on solving problems with creative solutions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn and navigate client intake software and other database systems.
Knowledge of Central Texas and its network of services for low-income families (preferred).
Exemplary interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Strong moral compass with commitment to improving the lives of those we serve in a dignified environment.
Willingness and desire to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.
Experience managing interactions with difficult individuals and supporting vulnerable populations, demonstrating empathy and resilience.

Your Responsibilities
Provide food assistance to individuals and families at the Fresh Harvest Market.
Assist clients during their pantry visit by carrying bags, retrieving food items, highlighting nutritious options and healthy pairings, and providing food assistance referral information as needed.
Utilize client intake software platform to verify client eligibility, ensure accurate data entry, and document services provided in compliance with established procedures.
Support clients in accessing relevant resources to connect them with additional services that address their needs.
Interact with clients in a professional, respectful, and trauma-informed manner, fostering a welcoming environment for all pantry visitors.
Maintain pantry inventory by ordering food items, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring shelves are well‑stocked and organized.
Lift and transport up to 50 lbs as needed to stock pantry items, ensuring food is accessible to clients while adhering to safety protocols.
Oversee facility maintenance, ensuring compliance with sanitation requirements, updating signage, and maintaining a clean and organized space.
Lead daily oversight of volunteers, including training, supervision, and coordination to enhance pantry operations.
Collaborate with the Community Nutrition team to guide clients in making nutritious and balanced food choices.
Support efforts of other food distribution and Health & Wellness initiatives including providing coverage for the Mobile FARMacy when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned, including utilizing language skills to better serve the organization and its clients.
Support emergency response efforts as needed, including stepping into alternative roles or responsibilities during times of heightened demand or organizational need.
Working Conditions
Hours of Operation: There are two available shifts as outlined below:
Shift 1 : Tues-Fri: 9 AM to 6 PM; Sat: 8 AM to 5 PM
Shift 2 : Tues-Thurs: 11 AM to 8 PM; Fri: 9 AM to 6 PM; Sat: 8 AM to 5 PM
Hours may vary, especially during peak times, disaster response, or holidays. Environment: This position works in a typical officeand pantrysetting. There may be extended periods of sitting,standingand/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. Regularwork will occur in the warehouse. The position also requires working independentlyand with others on a team. No remote work ispermitted. Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet andpossibly occasionalout of town travel for meetings, special eventsormeetingsfor some positions. OSHA Standards – Lifting requirements are 50 lbs. When lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
