Job Description
The Counseling Center is a critical component of Student Success at the University of South Florida, located in beautiful Tampa Bay on Florida's west coast.
The Counseling Center serves the mental health and well‑being of the 44,000+ students at the USF Tampa campus through high quality clinical services, evidence‑based practice, outreach, consultation, and education. With 30 multidisciplinary professionals, the Center is accredited by IACS and offers APA‑accredited doctoral internships and post‑doctoral fellowships.

We maintain a team‑based approach to client care, including a thriving group therapy program and interdisciplinary training. The Center seeks clinicians committed to excellence, culturally responsive care, and diversity.

Special Skills or Training
Clinicians must be knowledgeable in culturally responsive approaches and skilled in treating common concerns of college‑age students, including anxiety, depression, substance misuse, eating disorders, and interpersonal trauma, using evidence‑based interventions.

Responsibilities

50%: Provide psychotherapy for individuals, groups, and intimate partners.

15%: Assess presenting concerns through intake and assessment, and provide crisis intervention at all levels.

10%: Attend Center meetings, serve on committees, and participate in outreach and consultation programming.

10%: Supervise practicum students in mental health academic training programs.

10%: Participate in outreach and consultation programming and develop psychoeducational presentations.

5%: Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy.

Licensure in the State of Florida is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years post‑master’s experience.

Experience working with a college student population.

Experience providing short‑term individual and group therapy using evidence‑based approaches.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Clinical experience with culturally diverse groups and a desire to grow in culturally responsive care.

Experience and comfort working with students presenting with high‑risk difficulties, including suicidal ideation and self‑injurious behaviors, eating disorders, substance abuse, PTSD, and/or trauma.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations
Licensed or license eligible at the master’s level in the State of Florida in accordance with Chapter 491, F.S.
