
Nuclear Modifications Manager (TVA)

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a Tier 1 vendor for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and we are recruiting for an experienced, Modifications Manager , for a 24-month contract assignment supporting TVA’s nuclear fleet. Duration: 05/04/26 – 05/05/28 Target W2 Pay Rate: Up to $90.00/hour (time and a half for overtime) Project Office Location: Onsite in Chattanooga, TN Citizenship: Due to federal regulations, U.S. citizenship is required. Local or Regional candidates highly preferred. Project Overview: This position manages the implementation of plant modification activities in support of plant operations, ensuring that managed activities are conducted in accordance with applicable TVA, federal, and state regulations and radiological protection requirements. Project Responsibilities: Manage the activities of the site modifications organization. Responsible technical contract manager (TCM) for multiple contractors, including the site prime. Supervise personnel reporting directly to the site modifications manager. Manage modification activities in accordance with approved design documents and applicable TVA and federal and state requirements to ensure the activities are properly documented and that records are maintained. Manage onsite field support for temporary plant facilities. Manage the development and implementation of programs to verify that modifications, technical, and craft personnel are qualified and certified. Manage the development and implementation of a system to identify, schedule, and control the labor, tools, and materials necessary to accomplish the assigned work. Direct the management of all modifications to labor contracts at the job site in accordance with the TVA procedure and design approval documents. Act as the principal TVA nuclear spokesperson on matters related to modifications at the site. Manage the development of methods and procedures to minimize employee injuries and safeguard employee health. Manage the site's major modifications contractor and contract employees, ensuring compliance with meeting site goals related to project scope, schedule, budget, technical compliance, and direction. Review and approve preliminary estimates and project schedules as required, and participate in the engineering and construction review meetings and management review meetings where approval of tentative schedules and budgets is made. Review modifications, project progress reports, and forecasts, and initiate appropriate corrective action when necessary. Develop and submit a budget to the assistant plant manager and operate within the approved budget. Direct the management of field engineer activities during the implementation and testing of modification activities. Serves as a member of the site radiological emergency plan (REP) management team, ensuring staffing to support the site REP. Responsible for oversight of technical content for applicable training. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field is required. 8+ years of experience in utility engineering and technical support functions is required. Experience with utility project management, engineering, operational practices, construction, health & safety, project planning & execution, and contract development & management is also required. Professional engineering license or project management certification is preferred. Must have the ability to analyze complex technical and managerial problems to determine optimal solutions. Must have strong understanding of multi-discipline engineering roles to facilitate effective teamwork and collaboration to achieve results. Must demonstrate sound judgment, decision making, organizational, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills as a leader on project teams. Must have a thorough understanding of procurement, contract management, processes & procedures, and familiar with utility engineering standards.
