BRIEF DESCRIPTION

This is a supervisory position with duties that include directing daily schedules and crews in Refuse Collection, Transfer Station and Shredding Departments and operating various types of heavy equipment and trucks engaged in the collection and processing of solid waste within the city limits.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the safe operation used and of the provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to operation of heavy motorized equipment
Knowledge of sanitation collection systems, landfill operations, compost/mulching operations
Sufficient skills to operate and train others to operate equipment effectively and safely
Ability to service and make minor repairs on equipment and to know safety standards and prevent hazards
Ability to safely drive, back, and operate the heavy equipment on busy City streets paying close attention to other vehicles, pedestrians, team members, parked vehicles, overhead obstructions, tree limbs, etc.
Ability to read a map to navigate the City of Cleburne
Ability to deal with the general public, vendors and fellow employees efficiently and effectively
Ability to review, interpret, and analyze data to make sound, knowledgeable decisions and effective recommendations
Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing
Knowledge of solid waste regulations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent plus experience in operation of heavy equipment, including track loader, front end loader;

Minimum of one year of supervisory experience; OR

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED

A Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver License with airbrakes and tanker endorsement and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS

Primarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter months.

Must be able to withstand odors and dust, works in extreme and constant noise.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Standard office equipment including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, shredder, printer, etc.

Operation of heavy equipment, including loader, front end loader, bobcat, sanitation trucks, brush trucks, and others
